BRITISH SHORTHAIR
The British Shorthair, an ancient breed originating from domestic cats in Britain, likely has ancestors brought by Roman invaders from Egypt. While the ‘Blue’ color is the most well-known, they come in various colors and patterns like tabby, tortoiseshell, and bi-color.
This breed boasts a distinctive, crisp, dense coat that noticeably “cracks” when they move. Their powerful, sturdy body has a broad chest and thick-set legs. Males have a rounded and massive head with small ears set well apart on a rounded skull. Their large, round eyes are deep gold or copper, dazzling with a pleasing expression.
Known for dignity, British Shorthairs are devoted to owners and require minimal grooming, with spring combing to remove excess coat. While not lap cats, they enjoy snuggling on the sofa and following you around. Though not athletic, they have playful moments, making them ideal indoor companions that respect belongings. However, they can be prone to becoming a bit chubby, so monitor their food intake!
